Come camping with us to see if Troop 1785 is right for you. You can view the dates and activities of our upcoming trips on our Calendar.
Please Contact Us if you are interested in attending a campout. Troop 1785 meets weekly Thursday evenings from 7:30pm to 9pm at the Fellowship Hall in the rear of Magothy United Methodist Church at 3703 Mountain Rd. We would like to meet with you at a Thursday troop meeting before you come camping with us. Moms and Dads are invited to come along camping and take part in the fun, but it's not required. To attend an overnight trip, adults must complete the online safe-scouting training.
Troop 1785 owns a wide variety of camping gear and will lend you everything you need to give camping a try. We own canoes and participate in lots of water-based activities. We follow all scouting safety requirements and provide training for the youth and adults. Don't hesitate to try something adventurous. We have been doing this for nearly 40 years with hundreds of 10-1/2 to 18 year olds and haven't lost one yet!
The troop often leaves for camping Friday evening and returns Sunday afternoon. We understand this may conflict with busy schedules, so we are flexible. Scouts can often join us where we are camping when they are able, providing they have transportation.
Camping with Troop 1785 is not expensive. The only cost for camping is typically $15 to cover the cost of meals. The scouts plan the meals, buy the food, and make the meals themselves. More information about the cost to join the Troop 1785 is here. We have a one week summer camp in 2025 and a two week high adventure trip in 2026. The cost of these trips is a bargain compared to other one and two week camps.
